Alice came to Verde Christian Academy in 2003 after approximately 25 years of teaching in various Christian schools both in the U.S and out. She holds an Elementary Education degree and is Arizona State certified. She is very familiar with Christian education having attended Christian school herself while her parents served as missionaries to the Navajo people. Here she received her first taste of teaching by leading Sunday school groups, Junior Church, Vacation Bible Schools, and being a camp counselor. With a mission impassioned heart, Alice began her official teaching career in San Jose, Costa Rica working at schools for nationals and missionary children. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Before leaving Costa Rica, she conducted a school for missionary children in her own house. Over the years, she has been the lead teacher for Kindergarten through Fourth grade. She has also served as Kindergarten Aid, Technology teacher, Librarian, Spanish Teacher, adult ESL teacher, and Curriculum Coordinator. Alice and her husband of 2 years moved from Costa Rica to the U.S. in 1996. They have a son and a daughter who both attended VCA all the way through the 5th and 6th grades. Her children then continued their high school education through Christian schools in the area. Besides teaching, Alice enjoys gardening, crafts, remolding her home, and time with family. She has 5 cats and two dogs. Alice’s daughter, Cherish is currently teaching middle S.T.E.M at VCA.
